Your Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools Accounts Can Now be Linked

   

There is some good news this week for Google Analytics users; you can now link your analytics profile to your Google Webmasters Tools account.

This feature will not only allow users to access their Analytics profiles from within their Webmaster Tools account, but also enable them to access a few more Google Analytics features easily. Users can now view their Google Analytics Referring Pages report directly from the Links to your site page in the Webmaster Tools giving them a clearer picture of the overall trends in traffic volume from referrals, as well as the sites backing those trends. But that’s not all… users will now be able to access the Google Analytics Dashboard directly from the Analytics link in the top left bar when they are on a site-related page.

For the very few that don’t know about Google Webmaster Tools, it is a variety of tools that helps site owners collect detailed information about their site’s appearance on Google. On the other hand, Google Analytics helps website owners learn how visitors are interacting with their sites. Reports on the two tools do overlap to some extent but the data collected on each tool largely depends on the rate at which the Googlebot crawls over a website. Given that some of the Webmaster Tools reports are quite similar to those on Google Analytics you can very much look forward to a cross-product linking in the near future.

Here is how you can link your verified site in the Webmaster Tools to your Google Analytics profile:

• After logging in your Webmasters Tools account click on the Manage option for a particular site and then click on Google Analytics profile.

• Select the profile you want to link with the site and save.
