keyword density How Much Keyword Density A Website Can HaveCan the right amount of keyword density place you at the top of search results? Well, not so on its own but it does play a role in SEO. Keyword density can improve your chances but only if it is done right. Over doing it can make you look like a spammer but too little will confuse the search engines and it may search for a different word to put you on page one on. Can anybody tell you what the rules are? That is the million dollar question.

Determining what keyword density you need takes a bit of trial and error. You will here people say that 5% of your article should be your keyword density while some suggest 10% or even 15%. I have also heard the idea of using your keywords once for every hundred words you use. I could sit here all day and tell you what some people think but the only ones that really know are the editors of the search results. You can always try asking them if you like but I really do not believe that they would tell you. How search engines algorithms works is the biggest secret out their. It has to be or site owners would create their sites exactly the same way just messing up the results for all.

I have seen programmers use blackhats tricks like adding there keywords in beneath the body of the page a bunch the search engines. This is something you should not do because it only works for a for a little while and then you get penalized. Some have use their ALT tags in the image box for keyword stuffing. This may boost your keyword density but it will hurt you in the long run.

It seems like search engines read keyword density in two completely different groups. How much the words are together and how much the words can be found apart. To few this for yourself the next time you type in a keyword phrase look at the site in the “cached” section. You will notice text for the search phrase lit up in multiple colors where ever it can be found in text. It looks like if the keyword phrase is grouped then you get a small boost in result. Especially when you have it grouped in your mega title and mega description. But it will not tell you whether or not your keyword density is too high or too low.

But If I were you, I would not be considered so much about keyword density. More weight is carried by free backlinks that are linked from your keywords to your page. Just make sure you use your keyword phrase on the page from time to time and boost your links. Keyword density is just a piece of the puzzle and will not by itself put you on page one unless the keyword phrase is not being sought after. But what is the purpose of being on page one if no one is looking for it in the search engines.
